London to Paris
|
Chunnel to Paris.
After breakfast, we boarded the sleek Eurostar train and took the Chunnel (Channel Tunnel) to Paris. The Eurostar zooms along at nearly 200 miles per hour although it is limited to about 100 miles per hour in the Chunnel. It is 250 feet below the sea bed at its lowest point. What an amazing engineering feat. But before we boarded the Eurostar, we had to go to King's Cross station to pass through platform 9 3/4 to join Harry Potter. |

Paris Dinner.
After checking into the Tourisme Avenue Hotel and a short rest, we headed to dinner at Cafe Le Bosquet. It was a great dinner that is to be expected in Paris. Rick selects local restaurants that serve local specialties. We really enjoyed our first meal in Paris. |
|
Seine River Cruise.
After our dinner at the Cafe Le Bosquet, we enjoyed an open-air evening cruise along the Seine River as the sun was setting. It was the perfect finish for our first night in Paris. |

Historic Heart of Paris
Saint-Séverin & Notre-Dame.
Today we had a guided tour of the historic heart of Paris. We toured the Church of Saint-Severin and ventured on to see Notre Dame where our tour ended. It was sad to see Notre-Dame after the fire destroyed its roof. I'm hoping to see it again restored to its original splendor. |

Free Time
Lunch.
After our historic walk of Paris, it was time for some lunch and a gelato. We opted to have crepes at Cafe Med and followed that with Gelato from Amorino Gelato. |
|
Sainte-Chapelle.
We had our crepes at Cafe Med and our Gelato from Amorino and then it was off to see the beautiful Sainte-Chapelle an ornate, 13th-century, Gothic chapel with relics & notable stained-glass windows of biblical scenes. |
|
Catacombs.
After visiting the breath taking Sainte-Chapelle we went on to visit the Catacombs. The history of the Paris Catacombs starts in the late eighteenth century, when major public health problems tied to the cities cemeteries led to a decision to transfer their contents to an underground site. |

Louvre Museum
|
Louvre Museum.
Our morning begins with a visit to the magnificent Louvre Museum. We were introduced to the timeless treasures of Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, Venus de Milo, and other great works of art. |
After our Louvre Museum tour, we had lunch at the Louvre and then met our driver and bus for our ride to our country hotel in the heart of Burgundy in Saint Fargeau.
